Tattoo aftercare instructions
Posted by Tattoo Station on
A tattoo isn’t finished until it has healed.
Advice on the healing part is everywhere, and unfortunately, it doesn’t all agree.
Most artists agree bandaging up the wound (and yes, it is a wound at this point) is the best way to go, but how long and with what are bones of contention.
If you ever go to Thailand you’ll see lots of Westerners walking around with their new tattoos wrapped up in clingfilm/saran wrap. This isn’t a good idea, as your newly stabbed skin needs to breathe, and covering it up tight will only help bacteria to spread.
What we recommend for tattoo aftercare
Here at Tattoo station, we have years of experience in the industry, and we’know a thing or two about aftercare.
We recommend you remove bandage after two hours, wash well with warm soapy water and pat dry with a clean towel. Air dry and apply a small amount of our recommended after care cream, Protat, and repeat twice a day for 2 weeks.
Please do not soak in water, do not swim in the sea or swimming pool, and do not expose your tattoo to the sun until it has completely healed.
Most importantly, do not itch, scratch or pick your tattoo! No matter how tempting it is!
Protat Aftercare Cream
Protat are the world’s first tattoo aftercare company. By using chemists from their development team and overseas they are constantly researching new ingredients, with natural products receiving special attention.
Protat Premium After Care cream has been designed to be the primary product in the Protat range. It utilises the technology of the Soothing After Care Cream with the added ingredients.
If you're interested in buying Protat Tattoo cream, but don’t want to pay the ridiculous inflated price they sell it everywhere else, call Tattoo Station, New Zealand’s number one tattoo supply store.
